Review No.107. Mannochmore 12 Year Old
Whisky: Mannochmore 12 Year Old Single Malt Whisky, 43%
Nose: Raisins, citrus, salt, grass, malt
Taste: Candy, mixed tropical fruit cordial, liquorice, alcohol
Finish: Dry white wine, citrus sours
Score: 2.25
Summary: There is an interesting mix of sweet and sourness to this one which gives it some complexity I think. There is a freshness to the flavours and even though I don’t pick up the same notes on the taste as with the nose I liked what was being offered on both fronts. There is an alcohol note on the taste which does not help and the finish is almost non existent. At best I could pick up some dry sour notes – like a dry white wine.
Scoring scale: My scores reflect a balance of the overall experience, availability and cost for a whisky,
1 – not to my preference
2 – tastes fine but does not excite me
3 – more to my liking and would revisit occasionally
4 – very much to my liking and would consider as a regular feature on my whisky shelf
5 – permanent feature on my whisky shelf
